2023 Catholic Women’s Conference Summary
Approximately 600 joyful women gathered at St. George Maronite Ballroom in San Antonio, TX for the 2023 Catholic Women’s Conference (CWC), held July 28-29, 2023. Pilgrim Center of Hope (PCH) has lovingly sponsored this “Spa for the Soul” for 22 years with the support of many contributors. Women of all ages attended from San Antonio parishes, churches all over Texas, and a few from out of state. Sixty-three women watched virtually including groups organized at Holy Name Church in San Antonio and San Antonio de Padua in El Paso, TX.
The two-day conference experience included praise and worship, engaging talks, prayer, confessions, Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Gary Janak, and an opportunity to shop Catholic keepsakes from sponsoring vendors. Vibrant speakers included Sr. Elizabeth Ann Dockery of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in Amarillo, author of “40 Gifts of Hope”, Paula Umana, local founder and director of The Great Commission Theatre, Veronica Montalvo, Fr. Paul Melgarejo of St. Matthew Church in San Antonio and PCH co-director, Mary Jane Fox.
Feedback from numerous evaluations confirms that this CWC was a spiritual success. Women experienced healing, were strengthened in hope, and received the spiritual renewal they needed to continue to overcome fear, live in hope, increase their prayer life, and share with family members.
