Pilgrimage Chaplain

Fr. Paul Melgarejo was ordained to the priesthood on May 15, 2021. He serves as the pastor of St. Philip Benizi parish in Poteet, Texas.
The oldest of four, Father Paul was born in Laredo, TX, and grew up in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. He moved to San Antonio in the early 1990’s, graduating from Fox Tech High School, and attended Palo Alto College and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He taught Spanish and bilingual education for over 8 years before discerning a call to the priesthood.
He enjoys running and sports, especially baseball, soccer, and basketball. His favorite saint is St. Charbel Makhlouf.
Father Paul looks forward to offering spiritual meditations and presiding at daily Mass during the pilgrimage, as well as offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation for pilgrims who wish to receive it.
Outstanding Group Leaders

Your Group Leaders are Catholics committed to the true meaning of pilgrimage. Mary Jane Fox, DCHS, is Co-Founder and Co-Director of Pilgrim Center of Hope evangelization apostolate and its Ministry of Pilgrimages. Learn more here.

A cradle Catholic, Cathy Steves looks forward to serving you as your Assistant Pilgrimage Group Leader. In 1992, she participated in her first pilgrimage with PCH to the Holy Land. However, Cathy has known Mary Jane since the mid 1980’s when they were both travel agents.
Cathy spent 50 years in the sale profession; 22 years as a Sales Director at Harland Clarke. Upon retirement, she embarked on a heartfelt new mission: crafting handmade rosaries for anyone seeking prayer or a deeper connection to their faith. When her husband was put on Hospice, he requested 250 rosaries for his funeral mass. She completed the last one 3 days before he passed. This ministry reflects her dedication to spreading hope and spiritual comfort, one bead at a time.
Now, Cathy combines her faith, professional expertise, and love for helping others with Pilgrim Center of Hope, ensuring your experience is seamless, meaningful, and enriching. Cathy actively attends St. Pius X Church, where she serves in various capacities including Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, SPX Schedulers, SCF Women's Group, Rosary Guild, and the Capital Campaign team.
