Guest Information
William Gokelman is a Professor of Music and Chair of the Music Department at the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. He directs the UIW Cardinal Chorale and Cardinal Singers, and teaches piano, vocal coaching, diction for singers, and choral methods. For eight years, William was a keyboard artist with the San Antonio Symphony, and often performed chamber music concerts with members of the orchestra. In 2004, William was signed as a recording artist/composer with Good For The Soul Music, a Christian record and print music company. From 2001 to 2008, William was on staff at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he directed the Chancel Choir and served as a cantor and pianist/organist.
William holds degrees from Incarnate Word College, where he earned the Amy Freeman Lee Award for the Arts and Humanities, and Westminster Choir College, where he was awarded the Alfred E. Merron Award for Accompanying. In 2006, William became the second recipient of the UIW Presidential Teaching Award, and was voted UIW’s Moody Professor for 2010-2011. William is a member of BMI, NPM (where he serves as adjudicator for piano certifications), American Choral Director’s Association, Texas Choral Director’s Association, and Texas Music Educators Association.
David Kauffman is a songwriter, recording artist, and filmmaker. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his wife Missy and two daughters. He is the founder of Good For The Soul Music Co. David has been writing and recording for over 35 years. His mission is simple: Song and Story for Healing and Hope.
