Fr. Alex Kratz is a Franciscan friar who lives in Pontiac, Michigan, at St. Joseph Chapel & historic Immaculate Heart of Mary Shrine, one of Michigan's official Marian Shrines. Known for his warm, inviting spirit and thoughtful preaching, Fr. Alex has dedicated himself to helping people encounter peace, healing, and renewal through Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother. He serves as Spiritual Director and Co-Founder of Terra Sancta Ministries.
During his year living among the Holy Land's Christians, Fr. Alex met and befriended our co-founders, Deacon Tom and Mary Jane Fox. Since then, Father Alex has been a friend and supporter in Pilgrim Center of Hope's efforts promoting evangelization and Mother Church in the Holy Land.
Father Alex served on the Archdiocese of Detroit's Evangelization Team from 2006-2009 and 2012-2014. He holds a Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Sacred Scripture and a certificate in Biblical Spirituality from the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, and Advanced Certificate in Franciscan Studies from St. Bonaventure University. He enjoys reading about history and spirituality, and watching World Cup soccer and Notre Dame (his other alma mater) football.
