Pilgrim Center of Hope prayerfully mourns our friend, Mary Jo Quinn, who passed away Monday, June 8, 2026.
After an extensive career in health administration spanning Texas and all the way to Ireland, Mary Jo Quinn continued her dedication to service in retirement as a Missionary of Hope for Pilgrim Center of Hope.
She spent much time here and out in the community with us, guiding people to Christ through her warmth, openness, hospitality, and wit. Up until her cancer diagnosis, Mary Jo served as a Shroud Ambassador for the "Who Is the Man of the Shroud?" exhibition.
She experienced special journeys with us as a pilgrim to the Holy Land in 2009 and to Marian shrines in 2017. These impacted her faith profoundly, and wanted others to know about this -- recording her thoughts in a video we produced:
Mary Jo faithfully attended and supported our events; including Mornings of Reflection, Catholic Women's Luncheon, the Catholic Women's Conferences and Catholic Seniors' Conferences, served as a Socials with the Saints facilitator, and was the 2025 Rejoice In Hope fundraiser emcee.
Outside of Pilgrim Center of Hope, she applied her experience in service to others, including as a lay missionary in Africa with the Presentation Sisters and as a board member and volunteer for various organizations in the areas of literacy, personal development, and the Catholic faith. Mary Jo was a parishioner at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she assisted in faith formation for special needs children.
May she rest in the arms of the One whom she served on earth.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
