Deacon Tom Fox

Conference Founder

Deacon Tom and his wife Mary Jane had a re-awakening of their Catholic faith in the 1980s. While on a trip through the Holy Land, they were directed by a local priest to take a silent walk along the Sea of Galilee. There, Jesus unmistakably spoke to them each.

In 1986, they left their respective careers in hotel management and the travel industry to work full-time for St. Matthew Church. Their main ministry was door-to-door home visitation; in the first few years, they visited over 10,000 families. They also helped establish other outreach ministries at St. Matthew.

In 1992, after escorting Holy Land pilgrims to the airport, they returned to Jerusalem to spend two weeks in a hermitage in the Garden of Gethsemane. In 2 weeks of prayer, they discerned that God wanted them to develop a Catholic evangelization ministry. With the help of friends and benefactors, Pilgrim Center of Hope was founded in June of 1993.

Tom was ordained to the permanent Diaconate in August 1988. They became Oblates of the Congregation of St. John in 1991.

Their now award-winning ministry has taken them across the globe.

Deacon Tom will help inaugurate "TEC Talks" at our men‘s conference with an inspiring talk on the most important woman in Jesus’ life.

Most Rev. Gary Janak

Auxiliary Bishop, San Antonio

Bishop Janak was ordained Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of San Antonio on April 20, 2021. He was raised in Palacios, a multi-lingual and multi-ethnic community.

In 1983 he received his bachelor’s degree in History and began at Assumption Seminary in 1984. He obtained his Master of Divinity Degree from Oblate School of Theology in 1988. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Victoria on May 14, 1988.

He earned a Licentiate in Canonical Jurisprudence (JCL) from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in 1995; his master’s degree in Counseling in 1997, and has been licensed by the state of Texas as a professional counselor supervisor since 2000.

His hobbies include reading about spirituality, marriage enrichment and psychology; writing; running; biking; and paddle boarding. 

Mark Houck

The King’s Men

Mark Houck is the Founder and President of The King’s Men, Inc. An author, activist and internationally known motivational speaker, Mark developed in 2004 a ministry to help men become better leaders, protectors and providers. He has lectured audiences all across North American and Europe.

As a former All-American collegiate athlete and high school coach, Mark has drawn on his personal pursuit of excellence in sports to encourage and mentor thousands of men.

Through his seasoned life experience as a human resource manager, youth counselor and high school teacher, Mark brings practical insight and wisdom to his presentations.

Mark is a husband and father of 7 children. He has a B.A. in Human Resource Management from Catholic University and holds a Master’s degree in Education from Holy Family University.

Victor Negron

PCH Speaker Team

Victor is a husband, father, grandfather, practicing lawyer, former judge, past-President of the San Antonio Catholic Lawyers Guild, lay evangelist, Board Member of Pilgrim Center of Hope and A Woman’s Haven.

Victor became Board Certified in Family Law in 1987. As a lay evangelist, he has served as a leader for Eucharistic Adoration of San Antonio, Inc., and has been involved with Pilgrim Center of Hope’s evangelizing activities since its early years – formerly as emcee for the Catholic Men’s Conference, and currently, as a member of our Speaker Team and as a member of the PCH Board of Directors.

Victor will inaugurate "TEC Talks" at our men‘s conference, with a talk you won’t want to miss!

John Sablan

World Ablaze

John Sablan is the co-founder and president of World Ablaze Incorporated which is a Catholic apostolate focused on evangelization and discipleship. He is also a child of God, a devoted husband and father and Catholic speaker, evangelist and podcaster.

John is a survivor of all forms of abuse. He experienced many hardships in life and walked around broken and wounded looking for healing. Most of those attempts to heal were not in seeking the God of consolation but rather in what the culture and world offered as methods to "heal". Through the prayers and fidelity of his wife, children, and ultimately through the grace of God he has come to heal tremendously from those childhood wounds.

John fulfills the role of a technology executive. He has a BS in Computer Information Systems as well as a Masters of Business Administration with well over 24 years of management and leadership experience. From a ministry perspective he has over 15 years of experience both at the parish and diocesan level. John received a graduate certificate in theology from Augustine Institute.

Fr. Martin Scott

Leading Eucharistic Adoration

Padre Martín Scott attended Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmittsburg, Maryland. In May 1988 he was ordained a diocesan priest for the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. For the next 15 years he was assigned to several parishes in the diocese. In 2003 he was granted permission from the Archdiocese of Washington D.C. to move to Peru with all of his priestly faculties. He is the founder of the religious community called “Siervos de la Divina Misericordia” in Chosica, Peru. He is a missionary priest whose religious community lives entirely off Divine Providence. The charism of his religious community life is based on the messages concerning our Lord’s infinite Divine Mercy given to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.
