2019 In Review
Through our Journeys of Hope radio program and podcast, we introduced a series featuring pilgrim destinations in San Antonio! Our online archive includes this series on the San Antonio Spanish Missions, plus episodes about San Fernando Cathedral, Mission San Antonio de Valero (The Alamo) & other downtown churches. Local churches will continue to be featured on the weekly program, along with global pilgrimage destinations.
Afternoon Teas with the Saints, our presentations about different members of the Communion of Saints, started its ninth year as a monthly series at PCH. The name was modified to Socials with the Saints to include on-demand presentations out in the community for parishes & groups.
We developed and formed the PCH Speaker Team made up of local Catholic professionals who are formed in the faith & want to be a part of our evangelization outreach efforts in the community. In 2019, our speakers presented talks about the Catholic faith at conferences, retreats, parish group meetings, and annual archdiocesan Rosary Congress.
Just over 850 men were spiritually lifted up at our annual Catholic Men’s Conference in San Antonio; with dynamic nationally-known speakers Fr. Larry Richards, Dr. Ralph Martin, and Fr. Ken Geraci, CPM. Fr. Ken concluded the day with a powerfully moving Eucharistic Healing Service.
Mary Jane Fox presented a Saturday morning workshop based on her travels to holy sites around the world. Participants learned about Visio Divina, praying & meditating with sacred art.
The Stella Maris Campaign planning committee convened for the first time, initiating a formal effort to move forward with plans for the building of a new evangelization center on existing PCH property.
Meet the Master monthly Saturday mornings of reflection began—attracting participants from other faiths, as well as visitors from Mexico. As a result of the popularity of these mornings, which include adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a presentation, silent reflection, and group discussion, Meet the Master will continue in 2020.
We filled St. George Maronite Church & ballroom with our annual Catholic Seniors’ Conference especially for seniors, their adult children, and caregivers. CSC was developed in collaboration with and at the suggestion of Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, MSpS.
First gathering on Galilee Prayer Boat with the Stella Maris Campaign committee. The boat was hand-built on the future site of the Stella Maris Center. This is the first visible indication of progress of our plans to construct a new evangelization center.
This year, we expanded our partnership with the San Antonio Express-News Faith section by serving as contributing writers for the Belief column. Our topics for 2019 included Purgatory, Discipleship, The Rosary, and Sacred Art. The Express-News is the fourth-largest daily newspaper in Texas, with a Sunday edition circulation of 339,465.
In 2019, people watched over 189,000 minutes of spiritual content on our YouTube channel. Many found us by searching for healing. In 2020, we have a goal to raise funds for equipment that will enable us to expand this online outreach.

Deacon Tom & Mary Jane Fox led two pilgrimage groups throughout the Holy Land. This marked the Foxes’ 57th & 58th times leading authentic spiritual journeys to sacred destinations where Jesus was born, lived, conducted his ministry, was crucified, and to the place of his resurrection.
On the second of the two pilgrimages, Mary Jane suffered a fall which resulted in a badly-fractured ankle needing surgeries and time to heal. The Foxes’ unexpected longer stay in the Holy Land bore fruit for the ministry spiritually—and confirmed several priorities for Pilgrim Center of Hope’s future development.
For the first time in our almost 20 years of presenting the Catholic Women’s Conference in San Antonio—the longest two-day women’s conference of its type in the United States, we held two CWC events at the parish level. These more intimate CWC gatherings were held on April 12 & 13 at St. Mark the Evangelist Church and September 20 & 21 and St. Margaret Mary Church.
With an eye on continued future growth, we began upgrading our I.T. services with increased security & capabilities to continue being good stewards of PCH resources.
Together with our Missionary of Hope benefactors, volunteers, and prayer intercessors, we celebrated our annual Prayer Brunch, marking the start of our 2nd quarter-century of ministry. Our annual fundraiser featured Bishop Michael Boulette, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of San Antonio applying the Beatitudes for us today.
